What is Tents to Rents?
Tents to Rents was created by Mesilla Valley Community of Hope to shine a light on a reality many people never see: Members of our community are living in tents at Camp Hope because they have nowhere else to go. The name reflects our mission—to help individuals move from a tent to a rental home, transforming homelessness into housing and uncertainty into stability.
Since 2011, Camp Hope has provided a safe outdoor space for people experiencing homelessness. Operating as low-barrier, temporary, transitional shelter, Camp Hope receives no federal, state, or local government funding, making community support essential to its operation.
Through Tents to Rents, we raise the funds needed to sustain Camp Hope, including insurance, tents, utilities, case management, and other operating expenses. These funds also help residents overcome the financial barriers to housing through security deposits, application fees, and move-in costs.
Every contribution helps create a pathway from homelessness to a home—truly turning tents into rents.

Ways to Get Involved
Sponsor
Sponsors are businesses and individuals that provide the financial support that makes Tents to Rents possible. Their contributions, usually in the form of a one-time donation made during our fundraiser, help fund campaign efforts and critical resources that support Camp Hope residents on their journey to permanent housing.
Partner
Partners are community champions who commit to raising at least $2,000 during our six-week campaign. Each partner receives a personalized fundraising bio that friends and family can donate through. Partners help spread awareness through social media, email, and personal outreach. This is a fun, friendly, competitive model that allows you to be as creative as you’d like!
Revenue Share
Revenue Sharers support Tents to Rents by donating a portion of sales from a product, service, event, or promotion for a week during our campaign season. We call this collective Hometown Hope. In return, participating businesses receive promotional support through our website, social media, and campaign marketing efforts, along with customized flyers to help share their involvement with customers and the community.
Camp Hope
Camp Hope, or “Tent City,” is located directly behind the offices of Mesilla Valley Community of Hope (MVCH). One of the biggest challenges Camp Hope faces is that it does not qualify for any state, federal, or foundation funding. It is only through community donations that services, necessary items like toilet paper, and food are purchased because of the generous residents of Las Cruces. In response to the lack of funding options, the Tents to Rents (T2R) fundraiser was created in 2016 with the goal to move people who are homeless and living in tents at Camp Hope into their own apartment or house.
How To Participate
There are three ways to be involved with the T2R fundraising campaign–as a participant, a sponsor, or a donor. Participants , you commit to raising at least $2000 through email and social media to family, friends, co-workers, faith organizations, etc. Sponsors, you agree to help the community and receive sponsor benefits. As a donor, you have two options to make a gift by visiting the Tents to Rents website from August 15th to September 23th. You can either make a direct contribution to a participant’s goal or donate directly to the Mesilla Valley Community of Hope. Simply click on the participant you choose and proceed with your donation.
If you are unable to donate, you can still help by liking us on facebook and sharing our posts as we continue to increase awareness about the homeless and near homeless in our community.
